About 100 million school-age children never attend school and 387 million children who graduate, lack basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Many of the children in our communities cannot afford to send their children to school. Expenses like school fees, PTA dues, uniforms, shoes, and school supplies are a barrier to education for many families.
Our No Child Left Behind Promise ensures children are not barred from accessing an education due to poverty.
Our vital after-school programs boost the literacy of children and give them the skills to succeed, even when learning in overburdened school systems.
We teach the fundamentals of reading and writing. We mentor and teach leadership skills and give children an opportunity to participate in the arts.
In addition to a classroom experience, we take children on field trips to increase their knowledge of the world around them.
A system admin downloads educational materials on a daily basis for the children. The laptops travel in our “Knowledge Mobile” to a secluded school, community center, and sometimes a little shade under a tree—anywhere kids can use it.
Our goal at Pockets of Promise is to provide basic literacy to children in the third world. We want to answer the age old question of what is the best way to end illiteracy crisis and reduce poverty.
Pockets of Promise is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt social justice charitable organization dedicated to changing the lives of poor children around the world through education and proper nutrition. We are headquartered in Atlanta, GA with centers currently in Africa and Asia. All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects. Contributions which exceed the needs of the given project will go to fund similar pressing needs.
