Dorothy lives with her mother and one sibling in the Western Region of Ghana in an uncompleted building that belongs to a family friend. Dorothy is in class 5, and her favorite subjects are science and math. Dorothy enjoys singing, attending school, and the Pockets of Promise after-school

program. Her mom is a single parent and finds it challenging to provide for the family.

Gifty lives with her mother and her step-father, and one sibling in Ghana. She is very humble, and she helps her mom with the household chores. She enjoys learning and listening to music. She was in class 4, but Gifty dropped out of school. Due to her parents losing their jobs, life has been difficult for the family. 

Gifty lives with her mother and three siblings in the Western Region of Ghana. She is in class 4, and she loves English. She is very confident in her singing and dancing. Her mom is a single mom making her the only person to provide for the family. Her mom is a sales personnel in a small provision store owned by a friend.

Lordina lives with her mother and her two siblings in the Effia-Kwesimintsim District in the Western Region of Ghana. Lordina is helpful and loves to help her mom to cook. She enjoys learning and reading. Lordina’s life has been challenging since her dad passed away, making her mom the sole income provider. Her mother has a small business where she prepares and sells food and is finding it difficult to provide for her family. 

Patricia lives with her parents and four siblings in the Effia-Kwesimintsim District in the Western Region in Ghana. Patricia is known for her kindness towards others and is loved by many. Patrica is dedicated to the POP after-school program and is full of hope for the future. Life at home has proved to be a challenge due to the limited income that her family can provide, her mother is a seamstress, and her father is a driver. 

Emmanuel lives in a coastal community in the Western Region in Ghana with his grandfather and grandmother. He enjoys playing football when he is not helping his grandparents with fetching water and weeding the compound. Emmanuel is in JHS 1, and his favorite subject is English. He can see the effort he is putting in to attend the after-school program is paying off because his reading is improving.

Joseph lives in the Western Region in a fishing community. With his dad, mom, and seven siblings. Joseph is in class 6, and English is his favorite subject. Joseph has a fantastic smile and brightens the room when he enters. His dad is a seaman, and his mom is a fishmonger. Life for Joseph and his siblings is not easy, as his dad often comes back from the sea without enough fish to provide for his family. 

Comfort lives in the Western Region in Ghana in a coastal community. With her dad, mom, and four siblings. Comfort is in class 6 and enjoys school. Since starting to attend the after-school program, she has discovered a love for spelling and reading. When comfort is not school and attending to chores around the house, you can find her playing Ampe with her friends.

Naomi lives in the Western Region of Ghana in a coastal community. She lives with her dad, mom, and seven siblings. Naomi is in class 3, science is her favorite subject, and she enjoys playing Ampe with her friends. Naomi attends POP’s after-school program and is making great strides towards reading. Her dad is a fisherman, and her mom smokes and sells the catch of the day. Due to the depletion of the fish in the sea, it is hard for Naomi’s parents to provide for her family adequately.

Emmanuella lives in a coastal community in Ghana with her dad, mom, and two siblings. Her father is a fisherman, and her mom smokes and sells the catch of the day. Emmanuella enjoys attending school; her favorite subject is math. After classes, playing Ampe with her friends is where Emmaunella will be.
