Joseph K.

Joseph is in kindergarten two and regularly attends the Pockets of Promise after-school program. He has been attentive to his studies focusing on letters and sounds daily. His family consists of his mother, father, and five siblings in the coastal community of Ghana’s Western Region. Like many other families and neighbors, the primary source of income for the family comes from whatever the sea provides that particular day. Nutrition is one of the most common problems within the coastal community. Daily meals for the children often consist of one portion of the food pyramid, primarily carbohydrates.
