Many girls and women in impoverished communities in many parts of the world cannot afford menstrual pads or cups and use old clothes during their period. During this time, these girls are not able to go to school, losing many days of valuable education. Most of these communities believe it’s a taboo to have your period and the women and girls who have their period are driven out of their villages into the jungle. Many have died from infection from the old clothes or from snake bites while in the jungles.
Our mission is to provide menstrual pads and cups to girls and provide education on proper hygiene and break the taboo of menstruation.
Pockets of Promise is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt social justice charitable organization dedicated to changing the lives of poor children around the world through education and proper nutrition. We are headquartered in Atlanta, GA with centers currently in Africa and Asia. All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects. Contributions which exceed the needs of the given project will go to fund similar pressing needs.
